Promise Hits 400!

Our Promise Campaign goal for the month of March has been to reach 400 meetings, and my plan for today's blog post was to write about how close we are to reaching that goal. I didn't even get a chance to start writing that post because as of this morning, Promise meeting #400 has already been scheduled!

The 400th meeting has been scheduled with Representative Frank Wolf of Virginia's 10th congressional district. Congratulations to Alvina McHale and the volunteers at the Capitol Chapter for scheduling this milestone meeting!

By reaching 400 in the point in the Campaign, coordinators across the country have helped us keep the amazing pace that we have seen throughout the Campaign. During the 2009-10 Campaign, we did not reach the 400 mark until the middle of April. Reaching it at this point in 2012 puts us well ahead of the last Campaign's pace. We could not have achieved this amazing feat without the help of advocates like you across the country, and we are extremely grateful for the hard work you have been putting in over the past 8 months!

Reaching 400 puts us in the homestretch towards our overall goal of 432 meetings with Members of Congress. In fact, 3 more meetings have come in since I started writing this post, putting our grand total at 403! However, we still need 29 more meetings to reach our goal, and we only have a short time to do it in. There is one more congressional recess before the Campaign ends on May 1, which provides us with the perfect opportunity to get the remaining meetings we need. If you are interested in helping to set up a Promise meeting, now is your last chance! Sign up to attend or coordinate a meeting, or email me at advocacy@jdrf.org and let me know you want to help. I will set you up with all of the information and support you need to make a difference for those living with type 1 diabetes.
